EMOTION


Emotion makes no sense to me
Yet I completely understand
Emotion is the thing that kills
But gives new life to broken souls
Love is responsible for
Making me want to live

Why won't feelings let us be
And why can we not change them
They lurk deep inside us
A place that we can't reach
The way we feel is made already
And feelings we can't change
But only hide or pretend to feel another way

The way we think is like this too
When it's dark inside, there is no light
Yet lights can always fail
Bad thoughts lead to more and more
And drags us down into depression
Unable to free ourselves from this black
Need some help

Emotion cannot change with a flick of a switch
We live with what we feel
And suffer if we don't agree
Trying to push the truth
Of deep feelings away
Gets you nowhere
Just makes you hate yourself more
And not just how you feel

When things go wrong it's hard to cope
Emotions are confused and understood
Feeling hate, living hate, embracing hate
Hating hate for making us hate
The only thing that saves ourselves
Is the love that we know inside we feel
Which is bigger than me
And bigger than our driven need
To feel worse if we are feeling bad
