DEVIL'S GREED Veins begin to pulse As I wait, I decay from within The sun is beating down The darkness shares my fear When the time is right I die To live outside, to be again The bell sounds from far away The ringing starts from just above me Not hearing everything Just alert for one sound The sound I need It screams inside, I have to try My fleshless legs begin to move Forgetting how they work Caged and tied for seven years The strength is there I just have to find it As the gate swings in towards me I rise above I'm free Yet still a hostage Still running from what I fear My eyelids bulge As my eyes burst open To what I'm doing This is not real The sun has never been this bright before The dirt is crunched, and feet behind me I stumble over the hill Too steep downwards For my feet to hold, they break Head first into heaven Crashing into hell Bodies fall behind me But it is the ones I know The army followed me down United we can't lose Yet we are falling deeper Yelling, crying, screaming Shaping our misfortunes From what we cannot move The thunder tears the sun apart And this day turns to black As Christ upon the hill saw We now see as we tumble down Rain begins, turns dirt to mud We cover ourselves in pity Shame The pit we have fallen into Is the pit wherein our suffering lies Eternally closed in despair And escape is non-existent Even if the rain should stop In time we all will drown Swimming in each other's tears And shattered by the other's pain
